STUDENTS AND POLITICAL SCHEMING: PATCHES TO MAKE THEM STOP, NOTHING WILL CHANGE FOR THE YOUNG — English

Translation of the French article by Jacques Rouchaud

This Saturday, 31 October, young people, teachers and yellow vests are taking to the streets again. Nearly 600 gatherings are announced across France. The politicians are trembling: 70,000 police officers and gendarmes, marches kept away from city centres. They protect the shop windows, not the youth.

And meanwhile, what is being prepared up there?

Christine Lagarde is leaving the European Central Bank in February, before the end of her term, in order to “speak freely”. She swears she is not a candidate. But who can believe in coincidence? A simple politician’s strategy: why not a post as Prime Minister, for example under a François Baroin, the mayor of Troyes, who keeps the doubt hanging over his candidacy, or even the presidency for herself? In France, we know the tune: the same circles, the same networks passing power to one another. After the king, the empress? We are no longer in a republic, nor even in a monarchy: we risk empire, and that is worse. The princes of the Republic will come out stronger, and will spend even more. With your money.

And whatever happens, nothing will change. These people live in another world, with a standard of living you will never know. Her reputation in finance reassures no one: international finance has never reduced the debt of peoples, it has made it grow. With them, France’s debt will only get worse.

Christine Lagarde spent a large part of her career in the United States, at the head of a major American law firm in Chicago, then of the International Monetary Fund in Washington. I fear that she will serve American interests first, and a policy that weakens Europe, and France in particular, instead of defending them.

Students, high school students, retirees, farmers, craftsmen: now is the time to hold firm. The measures being tossed to you are only patches to make you stop. Demonstrate peacefully, in large numbers, without damage, so that no one can tarnish your anger.

Do not forget: in May 68, it was in Nantes, at the Sud-Aviation factory in Bouguenais, that the first factory was occupied, and that the general strike began. Today again, the new movement of Nantes will be the starting point of a new era of quality for all peoples.

Demosciocracy proposes the opposite of empire: citizens designated in each territory, from the age of 14, two Chambers, the Chamber of the People and the Chamber of Corporations, no party, no prince, no empress.
